King Parrots

I have recently started hanging seed bells in our yard to attract native birds and last week I was lucky enough to catch two beautiful King Parrots in the act of nibbling at one. I really love how the photo came out so I decided it would be great as a large feature photo for this month’s Um Wow Studio Sketch Challenge. This is the sketch I used:April Sketch2014

Because of the bright colours of the birds I wanted to use a neutral paper as a base and add some some pops of colour so the photo was the main focus. I started with a pop of red Color Shine and then I used the Star Confetti Mask to add some subtle patterns around two corners of the photo and added the Star Confetti to give it some dimension.

I also added a piece of the Everyday Speech Bubbles which was a fun touch. To balance out the speech bubble I added a piece of the Layered Arrows and of course the layout wouldn’t be complete without some flair and I added a piece from my favourite - Mustard 29 Flair. If you want to play along with the challenge head over to the Um Wow Studio blog for details of how to play along,

Today I am sharing a layout I made last week for Creative Scrappers Sketch 266.Creative Scrappers 266I have just got a lovely order of Pink Paislee Hello Sunshine in so I decided to use that as a base for this layout.
WonderfulWhen I saw the sketch I decided to use the circle areas as an embellishment cluster that ran down the centre of the page Wilna style.
Wonderful2f course there had to be some Plus One involved so I again got out my scissors and did a bit of cutting to the word thickers to give me the word I wanted.

Wonderful3I have a process video on my YouTube channel of how it all came together which you can see below.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!

LPS April Mood Board

It’s time for another mood board over at Life.Paper.Scrapbook. and this month’s is so much fun!
April Mood BoardI just got my hands on some of the new Heidi Swapp Favourite Things papers and I thought the chevron would be a great match to the “be brave” image on the board. I also added some watercolour paint to a plain sheet to make the background more interesting without using a patterned paper that would clash with the bold chevron.

Right Now

I am still crushing on Amy Tangerine Cut and Paste (I know I have to move on but I love it so) and it works perfectly with the Favorite Things.
Right Now2I had a lot of journaling for this page which as the title suggests is about things that are happening in my life right now, so I made a hidden pocket behind the photo and used a PL journal card.Right Now3Now you have seen what I have created head on over to the LPS blog and get some ideas from our inspiring DT then play along for a chance to win an awesome prize from Sassy Scrappers. You have until May 12 to upload your creation.

Soak Up The Sunshine

Today is a super quick post sharing a layout I made for the Sassy Scrapper April Moodboard challenge.

1174915_10202696455986668_1196863250_nI really liked this board and I decided to use most of the colours and also some script alphas to mimic the word poster and also chose my beachside picture based on two of the images (the sandy feet and the instagram pic).

Soak up the sunshineI started out with a piece of paper from the Hello Again collection from Carta Bella and then I just went back to the Amy Tangerine Plus One again – I am so obsessed with this collection for some reason. I am sure it is the bright colours and the script font. I also added in some Crate Paper Love Notes and some Um Wow Flair (and an unknown flair)

So that is it from me today, like I said a really short post.
Have a great day!

When I am getting close to publishing an issue of Life.Paper.Scrapbook. I often feel like I don’t get me scrapping time, time to just sit and play. A lot of the layouts I do during the time I am finalising everything are usually DT assignments – which of course I love or I wouldn’t choose to be on a team! But sometimes you just gotta have fun for the sake of it.

In my browsing of the web I came across a new sketch challenge from Creative Scrappers and also a pocket challenge on Paper Issues so I decided to combine them. This is the sketch:

Creative Scrappers 265I used the March Cupcake Kit from A Piece of Cake Designs and added some items from my stash.

FavouriteFor the pocket challenge from Paper Issues I decided to make a little vellum pocket and fill with sequins that came in the kit, it looked a little plain so I added the LOVE paper clip from Freckled Fawn (the second time I have used one in as many days!)

And of course there is a video of how this all came together which I will be posting later tonight on my YouTube channel.

Thanks for dropping in,

Polly Scrap Kits – Singapore Eats

Yesterday I shared a new layout on the Polly Blog using the March Kit. There were lots of Amy Tangerine goodies in the kit including some gorgeous exclusive acrylic embellishments which I fell in love with, one was a little knife and fork badge so of course I had to use it and the other Plus One goodies to document the food on my Singapore trip.
Singapore Eats

Singapore Eats2I also did some cosmetic surgery on the word thickers and turned the word “cherish” into Delish by adding the D from darling. I really like how it came out.

Singapore Eats3I also have a process video of how it all came together which you can watch below:

My Details Blog Hop + GIVEAWAY

Welcome to the My Details blog hop, you should have hopped over from Kellie’s blog if not you can go back to the start HERE.

I am super excited about this workshop because I very rarely sit down and journal just about me and what is going on with my life. I think this will be great to look back on in a year, five years or however many years down the track and see what was going on with me right now.

The prompt we are sharing today is THINKING which is something I do a LOT of!
My Details - Thinking

My journalling says:
“The buddhists have a saying – mind like a mad monkey – that sums up my thoughts perfectly! My mind is constantly spinning with creative ideas, things to make, plans for other crafty things, it never seems to stop. I am also a day dreamer, I always have been, planning all kinds of adventures usually about travelling to foreign lands. I am a worrier too. I over think things… a lot! I can make a mountain out of a molehill and fret about it all day. It is a kind of negative thing to do but I can’t help myself. When I am not thinking about creating and travelling or worrying then I am probably thinking about cats!
